Ravnica Unmastered Has Players Dig Through Old Boxes for Playable Cards

What’s old is now old again. The upcoming “Ravnica Unmastered” set differs from usual MTG expansions. Rather than purchasing packs of cards, players will pay a nominal fee to dig through old boxes that may or may not contain playable cards.

“Sure, I like cracking packs for some fresh, mostly uncurled cards. But there’s something about finding forgotten treasures in an box mixed in with old USB cables, boxes of electronics I no longer use, and the remnants of my ‘buy-every-Nintendo-3DS-I-saw-on-ebay’ phase.”

Local game stores have reported renewed interest in sealed product even if they’re sealed with crumbling duct tape.

“Rather than pay a premium for collector booster packs, Ravnica Unmastered is offering premium cardboard boxes that have no risk of a bedbug infestation. I’m glad Wizards of the Coast is trying new ways to get fans into local game stores since shipping a box full of of weird sex stuff in the hopes of finding a lube-stained Watery Grave is cost prohibitive.”

Many fans voiced concerns over how Ravnica Unmastered easy the new product is to counterfeit.

“The difficulty lies within determining if the broken garbage Goodwill won’t even touch is legit or counterfeit. I highly recommend anyone interested in picking up Ravnica Unmastered product get a loupe and do a green mold test on your cards to ensure they’re real. I’ve already seen images of cards used as bookmarks in Goosebumps novels that are obviously way too new to be legit.”

If successful, sources say Wizards of the Coast will continue with a related line titled “Mostly Magic” in which packs will contain bulk from other cards games like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and those old wartime playing cards with black and white images of boobs.
