Out of Ideas? Magic: The Gathering’s Marketing Team Chants ‘Taylor Swift’ Three Times into Bathroom Mirror

The Magic: The Gathering marketing team, tasked with increasing the female player base, gathered in the office bathroom and chanted ‘Taylor Swift’ three times into the mirror.

The ritual, based on the urban legend that saying a name three times in front of a mirror summons a spirit, was intern Joey Henderson’s idea. “We’ve tried everything else,” Henderson explained, adjusting his ‘Reputation Tour’ lanyard. “Pancakes, Hot Pockets… Nothing stuck. Then I remembered what Taylor Swift was able to do by merely attending an NFL game. If she showed up our job would be done for us.”

The team recalled the supernatural happenings surrounding their marketing experiment.

“It was a tense atmosphere. The lights flickered and the room filled with the scent of pumpkin spice and the number ’13’ appeared on the wall written in lipstick. That’s when Joey began whispering theories about Taylor’s next album release date,” said Sarah McAllister, head of the marketing department. “He snapped out of it and didn’t remember anything.”

Despite the lack of spectral visitation, the team saw opportunities to tap others for advice.

“Though Taylor was a no show we had a backup plan,” McAllister said with a shrug. “We tried the same thing with Post Malone. We thought it worked. But then we realized he was just in the bathroom with us. I guess he somehow escaped from the locked room where we’re keeping him.”

As a last ditch effort, the team was successful in summoning Richard Garfield though the team smashed the mirror after he told them to treat MTG as a game before a collectable.
