A graveyard-bound creature card was reportedly questioned about its attire at the time of its ‘demise’ during a recent Friday Night Magic, reported sources outraged at the obvious victim blaming.
The incident unfolded at the local game store “Mana-n-More,” where regular Friday night Magic games are a community staple. As player Jared “Tapmaster” Klein executed a spell that sent his opponent’s Omnath, Locus of Creation the graveyard, though the legality of the play was in question prompting a judge to descend on the pair in the hopes of clarification.
“My opponent was trying to convince me that by casting Terminate and killing my Omnath that it somehow removed its abilities off the stack which is just absurd,” said regular Samantha Clarke. “I called a Judge over and asked them to explain how the stack works. The judge looked at me and asked what Omnath was wearing at the time it was targeted with removal. Now clearly Omnath was looking sexy in their leopard print two-piece, so I get that they noticed. I mean, look at that bulge! But in the end, I was confused about what that had to do with anything.
One onlooker shared their recollection of the event.
“The judge kept insinuating that ‘perhaps Omnath was asking to be targeted in that outfit’ and if maybe ‘Omnath wasn’t being so seductive’ that they wouldn’t even need to have the conversation. No one is doubting the sheer animal magnetism Omnath exudes though I could tell Sam was getting irritated that the focus was on the clothing instead of the actual matter at hand.”
“The judge was only a T1 but that’s no excuse for failing to enforce the rules. I took the matter up to the store owner and explained the situation which quickly rectified everything, though the fact that I had to do that at all was kind of absurd. On my way back to the table I noticed the judge was wearing a Dallas Cowboys hat so, operating under the assumption he was asking for it, I tackled him and yelled “4th down, bitch” before finishing my match at 2-0.”
